Introducing myself and my journal: Women flying without wings

About Me:
Janet Otieno-Prosper is a female Kenyan journalist who holds a Masters degree in Communication Studies from The University of Nairobi.

She developed passion for writing at a tender age, as she would witness a number of things affecting Africa as a continent and wondered how to get the information out for necessary plan of action. She needed some channel to air it to the concerned parties.

Janet has worked in the mainstream media industry for six years progressively as a reporter, sub-editor and currently as an editor/writer.

Janet is passionate about issues that are pertinent to Africa like environment and health, women affairs, governance and democracy, human rights and development.

Janet is a member of Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), Media Council of Kenya and Kenya Union of Journalists.

She believes that journalists can reposition Africa through setting an agenda for positive action. She is also a poet.
