To enable us spread out our beneficiary catchment net, we are having a Facebook page Event where we want to meet girls/women who are struggling in the digital world.

I remember when i introduced an App as Simple as Telegram as my official virtual meeting APP with my Volunteers/Prospective Trustees in Malawi, i never knew most people in Malawi aren't used to it. They prefer WhatsApp. Meanwhile we still have other virtual meeting APPS like- Zoom, Microsoft Team, Googlemeet etc that most people aren't very conversant with in terms of flexibility/operations.

When i suggested online campaigns assignments to my volunteers, they told me the people who will benefit from our campaigns don't have Android phones but mostly What we refer to as - Call & Answer or touchlight phones. These are phones that you can't use for internet but to just text, call, receive calls or use as torchlight.

So when we talk about Educating and training girls/women in ICT & Tech Skills, there are ground jobs and preparations to be in place for a successful training.

I was able to have a successful virtual workshop in 2022/ 2023 because, majority of the trainees were based in the U.S where APPs are widely used and most of them have smartphones, Tablets and laptops.

Again, internet connectivity is another issue when doing virtual meetings/trainings. The telecommunications connection in Africa is still shaky in most countries.

So at our Facebook Event coming up on the 28th of April, 2024 we want to hear various challenges, obstacles that hinder girls/women from different locations in Africa not just specifically in Malawi from learning ICT/TECHNOLOGY skills.
