My close friend, good morning. I want to tell you my situation; how I live. I am a mom and have three children and a husband. We live in Bukavu. I am an orphan because my dad already died. The military from Rwanda made our lives absolutely miserable in every way. They met my Dad in our house and tied him up with a rope. After they tied up my dad, they raped my mom, as well as me and my sister. Then after they raped us, they killed my dad and cut his head off.

After they raped us and killed our dad, we were so sad in our heart; so much. We decided to move from Shabunda. We moved to Bukavu, and then we saw our mom became sick, and I began to look how I could contribute in our home and I began to go to ask people if they had some clothes to wash, and I would go back with food to my family. So I met this young man who is my husband now, and he told me he loved me and he would support me and my whole family. After we were married, he went on a journey to try and sell some merchandise, and came across a military group and they beat him, and now we live a very difficult life.
I have learned to sew clothing, and embroidery, but somebody stole the machine I was using, and now life is very difficult. Now it has become difficult to pay my children’s school fees, and to have food it is also difficult.

So I wish you, my friend and everyone, to hear the plea of the women from Congo.
