Learning about Safety through Puppets

Naina Jha conducted a workshop creating awareness about Child Sexual Abuse for the students of Kahanighar in collaboration with Gupshup on 7th April as part of Anti Street Harassment Week.  There were 18 students.

She spoke to them about safe and unsafe touch and the No-Go-Tell rule. With the use of finger puppets she made the topics of learning one’s private body parts, secrets and safety fun and interesting for the little ones.

She also conducted a session on street harassment, the different types, the effects it as on people, especially women and girls. This session was conducted for 10 grown up girls. Many of them shared experiences of facing stares, comments, touching and more. Naina gave them an overview of the law, what actions the girls could take to stay safe in such situations and to keep speaking up, breaking their silence and reporting such behaviour.
