Lifesong Kenya is Finding a Lifeline

There are many things that are happening ever since I embarked on what I am calling 'Running for My Life' after I had decided to run in my first marathon in order to raise funds for Lifesong Kenya. I am grateful for having the opportunity to impact the lives of children using buttons but I know, deep inside me, that Lifesong Kenya would achieve a lot more than what we are doing right now, if we had resources and funding available.

Today, Lifesong Kenya found a lifeline in the form of the learning pilot that we conducted in partnership with the Next Generation Global Education (NGGE). As we carried out the activities, the bright huge smiles on the faces of the children gave me joy. I looked back at how we had managed to get fuel and material for the day and I was happy, thankful and satisfied.

The children enjoyed every bit of it and even though I didn't sew buttons, I enjoyed the Skype chat the children had with Tracy Hanson, the founder of NGGE, the song, dance and the lesson we conducted. As the children said bye, I felt joyful and promised to go back for another lesson. I believe that this is a new beginning where Lifesong Kenya will keep finding new lifelines that will enable us to continue our work.

"Teacher James," one of the girls we met today called out as the group left. "Will you come back next week?"

"We will," I promised, praying for a new lifline to appear.
