Hi ladies, Sorry to miss this week's phone conferences but I'm excited to contribute however I can. Just a couple of planning notes re: keeping Haitian women in the public eye and story ideas.

--National women's magazines like Oprah, Glamour Marie Claire, etc will put their Jan issues to bed sometime this October or thereabout. No doubt they'll want "Haiti, one year after" stories. Editors should have your pitches in the pipeline sometime in the summer. Just want you to keep that in mind. (and perhaps I can help you brainstorm the kinds of stories that each mag would want? I'm open, let me know)

--I want to pitch a couple of Haiti stories to Women's eNews (I'm attending their edit meeting tomorrow) and I hope you can forward me to sources re: the following:

1) Can we determine the the specific kinds of development policies that we need based on the sociodemographic profiles of both Haitian immigrant women and women living in Haiti? For instance, we know that most immigrant women work in healthcare: might that produce a policy that subsidizes nurses who want to return home to help? Or based on what experts know about Haitian women in agriculture and its impact on the community, what development policies should be pursued? With this article, I'm trying to get more specific than "Haitian women need to be included in the reconstruction." I want to explore how. Finding experts is always easy; finding the real-life examples can be challenging. Let me know if you can assist with sourcing?

2) Do you have concrete examples of women (or men with a gender lens) attempting to get in on the reconstruction process but being rebuffed?
