The mangrove seedlings, the seedlings in the sack make sense as Keepingthefaith Kado of DIVA for Equality FIJI  talks to Kalesi, the coordinator of Women Defend the Commons in Drauniivi.

"In 2012, I almost lost my children because of flooding," Kalesi shares.

The river bed close to her home rose all the way to under the floorboards. It was extremely stressful as Kalesi was away preparing to deliver a baby.

"Climate change affects us personally." She refers to the vulnerability to floods, the devastation of cyclones like TC Winston and the rising sea level.

"(Managing) my backyard garden I see the increase in temperature. Plants die. It affects all of us here. There is not enough water. We can go without water for weeks and a month."

Since 2019, Kalesi has been the coordinator of Women Defend the Commons with #DIVA. Every Thursday is set aside for the women to meet. This is where she shares what she learns through DIVA - human rights, #SGBV. They discuss Leadership & Agroecology.

Kalesi's story will feature in the film, which is produced with the support of Pacific Island Feminist Alliance for Climate Justice
