Mum and I: Sewing with dementia

Since my Mum was diagnosed with dementia, I decided to see if the idea of reintroducing her to dressing making (she was a dressmaker in her youth) might rekindle her love for sewing.

I'm so proud to say that Mum made many of her children's clothing. I remember having a green swimming costume made for me.

So, I seized the moment to engage my Mum with a sewing project.

You can watch a short  film clip of us making a small purse for her face mask.

Success! My Mum's purse is used frequently  we go out for our local walks in the park.
