My Hero

When I think of a hero, I think about those comic heroes dressed in tights and a cape with amazing super powers; I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting anyone like that in real life. However, my hero is anyone and everyone who works hard to leave the world a little better that the way it was when they entered it. I have met, heard, and read about people with amazing visions to change the world for the better; not only for themselves, but for everyone around them. A hero to me is someone who despite numerous occasions to be selfish, conceited or greedy, chose not to only care about themselves and realized the larger purpose in life. My hero doesn’t need to be rich or powerful or wear really colorful capes and spandex (although they could if they wanted to…). My hero is from the heart. They sincerely want to make the world a better place despite what they receive in return. Their action doesn’t need to be elaborate or even reach 10 people. They could simply make a change in ONE person’s life for the better and they would have succeeded in making our world a little bit better then when they came into it. There are many people whom I admire but it is very difficult to name a single person as my hero simply because there are countless human beings doing everything in their power to change even one seemingly small thing in their community, in their family, with their friends, or with people they’ve never met from across the seas. Thus, being a part of World Pulse and witnessing the amazing and uplifting stories of other women who are seeking the betterment of this word, gives me great humility. I am lucky and proud to have so many heroes in my global community.

Thanks to you, the world is/will be a better place.
