My Journey.........

My Journey,

Continuing with my journey in Curacao!

In my first story I did share some information about myself, my family and the location of Curacao and more. Now I’m just making it plain! I was born right there in the Southern Caribbean, close to South America. Curacao, an Island that was influenced by different countries and culture, but still managed to keep its native language and culture. Together with my parents and siblings we are residing here on the Dutch Caribbean Island of Curacao. The Island of the famous and original Blue Liquor established since 1896! 33 years after the abolition of slavery. Where the start of the processing of the Curacao Liquor in 1896 started, was in one of the more than 100 Plantation houses all over the Island of Curacao. Abolition of slavery was in 1863.

During the time that I was a victim of domestic violence I was also dealing with my past. In school I did get history but mainly European history not much of my own Island. As I was trying to catch up with myself I started to dig deep to know who I am. I had a huge desire to understand my people, my culture and most important myself! Because of this search I understood that it is very difficult to move on in life without knowing your past, the beginning of everything, the Alpha!

One of the biggest issue that woman are facing is Domestic Violence in general! The whole cycle. That’s the root of many problems that women, men, children, the elderly and family in general are facing right now in Curacao.

World Pulse gave me a reason to live, gave me HOPE! I know now that I can work with organizations in my community without fear. I have support that is much bigger than my concerns.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm, let nothing move you. 1 Corinthians 15:58
