My Memories With My One & Only Laptop

Yesterday when I went to sleep, I knew I will have some issue with my sleep. A few things were annoying me for the past few weeks. The main issue was with regard to my laptop. I noticed an issue with 4 keys, and includes the spacebar. I bought my dear old Dell-Inspiron in 2011.We were waiting for Christmas / New Year offer in 2010. At each moment I was a little bit hesitant whether my parents will buy me a laptop or not. I was an earning member by then. But I didn’t have enough salary to purchase a laptop. Even if I had enough money, parents’ consent was important. My parents were stingy folk; but now I don’t regret inheriting that gene.

A Laptop for me, at that time, wasn’t out of necessity; but it was part of luxury, of getting myself balanced in my social setting. I was dealing with the degree batch students then. In December we somehow came upon a conversation in the classroom setting, and I told them I had a laptop- DELL. When one of them went to the extent of elaborating her device, I went dumb. I told her I bought it recently, yet to get to know the features. My father was as usual the hesitant party in the house. His mind drifts to and fro as usual and you get an algorithm chart- get the laptop – don’t get the laptop. Now I want the laptop urgently – yes, ego clash, at times exists between students and teachers (my earning platform, the student's boasting space - doesn't always sync with the general vibe of classroom).   

Laptop arrived in the first week of January 2011. The day’s ritual starts with taking the heavy laptop out of that expensive bag, switch the power button on and switch it off. My mother goes to the paint section and MS word recollecting her IT workshop.

It is again another December and I am no longer in my 20’s. I have recently changed my Windows 07 OS to Windows 10 -in June. I wanted to maintain this old laptop. The spare is no longer available. It took me two weeks to get a duplicate keyboard in November. I didn’t opt for an external keyboard. The laptop started showing signs of trouble again. Automated scrolling was distracting me and I understood pressing the whole keyboard was a short term remedy – my system, my cash –others please don’t imitate. Yesterday my curious self thought of giving it a different try. I have seen the staff of the electronic shop remove the old keyboard so casually and replacing it with the new one, from a distance. I thought of giving it a try. It was another disaster.

Today I have to go to a different electronic showroom and get their remarks (most probably I'll have to get a new one).  When it comes to financial planning, let us not always follow the modern financial gurus blindly. Assess one's financial capability and take a stand.  Being miserly ain't that bad?         

RECOLLECTION OF WORLD PULSE SPACE

It has been my first year on this platform. I still remember my first breakout room session in August- people with a slightly different accent and me with that not-so polished English. It has been interesting to interact with people from various walks of life. Even more important to me is the date of joining - 24th June. I don't exactly remember the registration process, but it happens to be my mother's 7th anniversary. I hope all those who have been part of this organization's journey have felt the warmth of sisterhood and encouragement.

MY 2024

On a personal note, I'm a satisfied person with regard to a few of my learning and achievements. I was able to register a small business in my name. Technical aspects are undone. I want to take it into a full-fledged platform by February - it takes some time for me to pickup the necessary aspects of running a business.
