NIGERIA: Embrace the Journey

In a letter to her younger self, Boluwatife describes life's forest of dreams and challenges.

“Just as the sapling stretches towards the sun, reach for your dreams and passions. Follow the path that brings you joy and purpose. It may twist and turn, but trust in your inner compass.”

Dear Younger Me,

Let me tell you a story that might help guide you through the years ahead. Imagine a young sapling in a vast forest, just like you. This sapling faced the same challenges and uncertainties as you do now.

As this little tree grew, it yearned to reach the sky, to stand tall and strong amid the forest giants. But it faced storms that shook its branches and tested its roots. In those moments, it wished it had known a few things.

Firstly, remember that growth takes time. Just like that sapling had to endure many seasons to become a sturdy tree, you, too, will face hardships that will shape you. Embrace the journey, for it molds your character and strength.

Secondly, don't compare yourself to others. Each tree in the forest is unique, and so are you. Celebrate your individuality, and remember that your path differs from anyone else's.

When the storms of life come, and they will, stand firm. Your roots, like the tree's, run deep, drawing strength from your experiences. Don't be afraid to bend in the face of adversity, but never break. You're stronger than you realize.

Build meaningful connections with those around you. Just as the forest thrives on the diversity of its trees, your life will flourish with the relationships you nurture. Cherish your family and friends; they are your shelter in the storm.

Lastly, always seek the light. Just as the sapling stretches towards the sun, reach for your dreams and passions. Follow the path that brings you joy and purpose. It may twist and turn, but trust in your inner compass.

Younger me, life is an adventure. Embrace it with courage, patience, and an open heart. You are like that sapling, destined to become a magnificent tree. Believe in yourself, and you'll find your place in the forest of life.
