Obtain A TEDxWomen License Today And Host An Event In Your Community (It's Easy!)

Hello Sisters!

I hope you enjoyed Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo's touching TEDxWomen Talk  titled "Rebirth", where she tells her story under 6mins. Does the video inspire you? You must have learnt a few things I know. So, now, I would love to share an information which I received with you.

First of all, I am a member of TEDx Community. In my locality, I am an Organizing Team Member of a TEDx group called TEDx Isale General, where I am the Director of Collaborations. There, it is my responsibility to identify and reach out to potential collaborators and also work with and engage them and other existing collaborators to ensure that our TEDx events are successful. TEDx Isale General organizes events in a town called Ogbomosho in Oyo State, located in the south-western region of Nigeria.

TEDx means TED extension. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. TED is a nonpartisan nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. It began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 110 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world. There are various types of TEDx events. They include Standard event, University event, Youth event, ED event, Salon event, TEDxLive event, TEDxWomen event, Business event, Internal event, and Library event. You can get all the information you need by checking on TED and TEDx.

Do you often watch TED or TEDx talks? How do you see them? In your community, have you ever attended a TEDx  event?  Or are you a member of the TEDx Community who actively engages in TEDx event organizations? Please I will like to here from you.

Now, let me focus on the objective of this article...

A TEDxWomen event is one avenue for you to reach out to your community as a women who wants to make impact. As a TEDxWomen curator, you will invite successful women and women who have great thoughts  to share their knowledge, ideas, stories as well as inspirations with women of your community. The good thing is that each of us can obtain a license to host a TEDxWomen event. Here is a message I received recently.

"Dear TEDxers,

We are excited to announce that TEDxWomen applications are now open! This year, we are offering a flexible time frame of nearly two weeks for you to host your event. This means more opportunities to find a location, book speakers, or even attend TEDWomen!

Holding a TEDxWomen event is a great opportunity to engage with your local community around the TEDWomen 2018 conference, to be held in Palm Springs from November 28-30. This year’s theme, “Showing Up,” speaks to the ways in which women around the world are taking matters into their own hands, showing up for each other and themselves to shape the future we all want to see. More details about the conference, and how to register, will be available in the coming weeks.

A few reminders about the TEDxWomen license:

Your TEDxWomen event can be held between November 29 and December 9

You must stream at least one full TEDWomen session, from start to finish, at your event

You may apply to host live speakers at your event in addition to the TEDWomen livestream

The license expires once the TEDxWomen event is complete

If you are interested in holding a TEDxWomen event, please head here to fill out the application. If you have any questions, email us at tedx@ted.com.

Thank you,

The TEDx Team"

Interesting, isn't it? But you just have to do two things before applying for your TEDxWomen license. First, you need to check out TED, TEDx and TEDxWomen to see if you like the idea and would be able to organize a TEDxWomen event. Second, you would need to sign up to be a member of the TEDx Community. Once you have done the two,  you can now proceed to the application process of obtaining your TEDxWomen licence.

I look forward to many sisters here organizing TEDxWomen events in their various communities. Imagine if we all do. Wow! We would be making great impacts all around the world. I am earnestly expecting to hear your community-touching stories.

You can watch more TEDxWomen Talks on Youtube here.

If you have any further questions for me, please send me a private message and I will be glad to respond to them.

Regards!
