OLD is GOLD

It’s always nice to meet old teachers. I just had a friendly chat with Miss Carly at the rooftop of the place where I am living. She is my first teacher at AUW (Access Academy).
God! I vividly remember those days back in the past. It was 2008 when I first came to this place (AUW, my university). Residential universities are not very common in Bangladesh. I was so happy and excited to come here because I was tired of staying at home all the time after my HSC exam. I was eagerly waiting to get a call from my university for all the detailed procedures about admission and classes.
March 28, 2008. It was exactly 2 o’clock in the after noon. My parents and my elder brother came to drop me at AUW on that day. When we got down from the train I was amazed to see the beauty of Chittagong (one of the divisions of Bangladesh). Everywhere it was so green and beautiful. The hills were enormous and superbly green. It was so beautiful like I used to see in paintings. I looked above the hill and it was a beautiful sky of spring. I just fell in love with the place seeing its natural beauty.
My first impression about AUW was quite predictable. I never thought of living in such a high-rise apartment building. It seems so congested right now though. Time is moving so fast. Three years have gone by so swiftly, unnoticed. New people are coming and the university is losing the old pals sometimes. To some extent, being at AUW, I now miss the fun at the dorm rooms, staying up late at night, listening to music, or talking to a friend like we did in 2008. The first week of our orientation was so much fun. We had dance parties and ice cream nights where everyone had equal participation with so much enthusiasm. At weekends, we used to go out as a group for shopping or to visit some places nearby. Each dorm had four rooms and there were at most twenty members in each dorm.
Things changed so much now. We now miss the days back because there were fewer things to be worried about. We did not have to worry about thing like grades, exams, internships and etc. Each and every one of my friends is now stressed with either homework or exams. We are so busy that we do not have time for little stuff like going out to see a film, or to a nearby shop to eat fuchka/chatpati. I miss those time when at weekends, my friend had a random desire to go on hiking and we used to head towards Batali hill or Foy’s lake. I really miss those random going-outs.
