PAIN- A KICK IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

"Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out." (John Wooden)

I was going through a blog post by Delta Ndou, ‘An ode to those that broke us.’ I should say I keep on reading it every opportunity I get. It was well written, true, and pure. She talked about how being heartbroken, feeling that pain has the potential to set you off in the right direction, pursue your dreams and look back and credit that pain someday.

Fanny Chirisa, the Head of Women in Politics Support Network attributes her success to a divorce she had at a very young age and of course inspiration from her mother. Delta Ndou has also encountered personal struggles in her life and she decided to be strong enough to rise above them. Luta Shaba is one other extra-ordinary woman whose history when I think of I just wonder, ‘would I have survived.’ There are many other women and man of course whose pasts would shock you because of the people they are today, Joyce Meyer, Betty Makoni the list is endless.

The point is, pain is inevitable. It will pounce on each one of us at one point or another, what remains the most crucial thing is we remember we are just but human, we are vulnerable yet strong. We are able to rise past our pains and struggles and one day look back and roar with laughter. The stains of pain we can wash away, the wounds we can heal and the scars are just a reminder that we are human and so we can look at the scars and smile, ‘once upon a time….

Through pain we learn to love better, appreciate ourselves better, appreciate others and seek to understand than to be understood. We become pioneers of our destinies-we know where we want to be before we get there. We understand life can’t be perfect. We welcome the beginning of each day with a broad smile and live, live, live……
