Pre-pregnant

I read an interesting piece on the NY Times blog today. It was about women feeling that doctors treat them as if they are \"pre-pregnant,\" as if the most important thing about them is that they could possibly be carrying a fetus soon.

I've often heard about women being discriminated against at work because they are of child-bearing age (not even pregnant, just at an age at which pregnancy was possible) but this is the first I've heard of medical discrimination.

I believe Women/Men/Humans should be treated by their doctors for who they are and not who they could possibly be soon. What do you think of this issue? Have you ever felt discrimination because you were at childbearing age?
