PRESS FREEDOM

As a member of the press
It’s my desire to be free
For press freedom
Is required in every kingdom

We uphold our media law and ethics
As such, endowed with ethics
To disseminate constructively
And present issues objectively

The media should be impartial
And decline from being partial
In order to be active
We should have a motive

In my opinion
We need to be in union
To fight press repression
In our way of expression

The media as watchdog of society
Have the responsibility
To inform and disseminate
In our quest to communicate

We are to propagate
And also try to motivate
To ensure progress
In our strive to curb social regress

Our repots should make an impression
Through various forms of mass communication
Top with the zeal to strike a balance
Even as a freelance

Media practitioners suffer oppression
Since autocracy brings about suppression
By training we have been commission
As such, we should carry out our mission

As a Journalist, we profess
In our thrive to success
Sensitizing and creating awareness
To attain public uprightness

Guided by communication concepts
We need to abide by the precepts
Surely; this might lead to persecution
However, we do have an obligation

Our experiences sometimes are traumatic
When leaders aren’t democratic
We’re thence subjected to torture
Thus, jeopardizing our future

Yes! I might be critical
When my reports are analytical
But then, that’s my profession
I therefore can’t compromises my passion
