PUMPKIN CULTIVATION AT HINGUTARD VILLAGE, ARSHA, PURUlIA, INDIA



24 families of Hingutard village of Arsha block, Purulia, West Bengal, India cultivated pumpkin on two Bighas( 66 cents)  of  land, harvested during the pre monsoon. Total pumpkin production was 400 kgs and SHGs distributed 100 kgs of pumpkin among 24 families and remaining 300 kgs will be sold which present market value is Rs 15/- per kg. GVT only extended their technical support. Before eight months there was neither any Livelihood Committee nor SHGs, after that one Livelihood Committee and two SHGs were formed to ensure sustainable livelihood in the local community.
