As part of our school and community sensitization program against Gender Based Violence and the Elimination of Violence Against Women and girls, which is the number one factor that hinders community development,
My team and i, went out to sensitize students, pupils and the entire population of Limbe, present at the Manga Williams Avenue in Limbe, South West region of Cameroon on:
The occasion of the National youth day, celebrated every 11th of February 2024, , all over the Cameroon territory,
We took out time to educate them on:
what GBV is, the different types of GBV, its causes and affects.
We equally developed a GBV tree, as a short and smart tool for teachers to educate students back at school.
With this year's team being: "Youth, Import Substitution and Economic Patriotism for Cameroon's Development.” which is all about having a spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development,
It is important to know that, if youths must innovate and develop communities, then acts of Gender Based Violence, like stereotype norms, discrimination, gender inequality, power imbalance, denial of economic resources that affects women and girls, must be completely eradicated. Women also have a part to contribute in community development and lead innovative projects, that contributes to economic development, environmental protection and nation building.
After educating them, we made boards that Carried different messages and gave the boards to Primary school pupils and secondary school students to carry and march with the Messages written on them. The boards had messages like stop violence against women and girls, stop drug Abuse, Drug abuse affects your mental health, Silence is violence , Don't mess with our bodies, All Children have the right to quality education and so much more.
