Sex Education - Let's talk about Sex.

As girls in Africa, we have grown up in households that sensor sexual conversations, there is a lot of mortification that comes with having these kinds of conversations. Oh! the embarrassment ; Prompting us to eventually just discover everything on our own. We don’t know any better. We will learn very minimal from school about our sexuality. ''School of life'' remains the only option for us, but it is cruel and brutal. In this age, being tech savvy will help us in bringing to light what we are oblivious of. Conversely, technology has alarmingly overblown the meaning of sex. Vices such as pornography, nudity, vulgar language are widely available online. Social media has become a big influence on our values and sexuality has totally changed meaning plus its value has been rubbished. There is no control of information, moreover everything is easily attainable. Are we learning from the wrong sources? Sex education is a big problem. We only learn about our anatomy. Early marriages, unwanted pregnancies, contracting diseases to name a few, is among the many ramifications of engaging in risky sexual activities and we are not remotely ready for the repercussions; need I start going on about the effects it has on self-esteem and our mental health? We need to start having this Conversations, because our sources are troublesome.
