On 5th July 2023, Haki Nawiri Afrika organised a community session to discuss shrinking civic spaces. The platform anchored on a dialogue brought together civil society organisation representatives who included grassroots activists, Faith Based Organisations, university students, and out-of-school youth. The convening had 51 participants.

The forum echoed that shrinking civic space is curtailing various fundamental freedoms contained in Kenya's Constitution. In addition, the forum concluded that deliberations on shrinking civic space and access to justice go hand in hand and it is a big win to create more platforms particularly within grassroots communities to amplify the lived realities when it comes to matters social justice.
