Smart RR: Reporting and Referring GBV Cases

I co-innovated Smart RR, a digital tool that enables Gender Based Violence case managers to report and refer cases to appropriate quarters.

The digital innovation works on an app and with USSD. With just USSD codes on any type of phone, GBV victims and community members can report cases and location of victims for prompt rescue and attention from policemen and case workers within the location. The case workers then search on their Smart RR and report cases to service providers like health care providers, psycho therapists and litigators.

They continue to manage and refer cases until victims are restored to normal life, offenders are punished, and survivors and their families are compensated.

Smart RR was one of the 5 innovations selected out of 166 team applications for the African Union Humanitarian Challenge this November. I and my other two team members were in Nairobi for a Prototyping Lab organized by GIZ.

By co-innovating Smart RR, I hope to contribute to the global action mitigating GBV especially against girls and women.
