Life begins at 30
Body shaming is horrible, but even worse and more insidious is age shaming, a form of bullying that targets women more than men. However, men aren't exempt either. Phrases like "thirty and finished" or "over the hill at twenty" are usually propagated by those who lack wisdom and empathy. Sadly, our society is filled with such people whose insensitive actions and thoughtless words are silently destroying others from within.
"Why do you look like that at your age?"
"You’re starting to look old!"
"How many kids do you have?"
"You're not married yet?"
"How old are you?"
"Do you still qualify for a job at your age?"
"Time’s running out, shouldn’t you have kids?"
"My goodness, you still haven’t achieved anything at your age? So-and-so did this at your age, what about you?"
And yet, most successful people only found true success after 30. Where the narrow-minded see an end, that’s often where the story of legends begins.
Take, for example, Vera Wang, who entered the fashion industry and became an iconic designer only after the age of 40. Julia Child didn’t release her first cookbook until she was nearly 50, revolutionizing American cooking. Toni Morrison, the Nobel Prize-winning author, published her first novel at 39 and became a renowned writer in her later years.
These women and many others prove that age is just a number, and success knows no timeline.
