Stop Waiting Take Action Now

STOP WAITING TAKE ACTION NOW

Pabitra Acharya, WAWCAS group member since 2016 started from a small tea shop and expanded to a grocery and drinking water business. Pabitra is well educated having a bachelor's degree trying to get a job could not succeed. She became a WAWCAS group member. In the beginning, she was not happy to become a WAWCAS member she thinks the WAWCAS program is for uneducated women since she is well educated she is not feel good inside. In the training, she realized that there are lots of things she does not know even though having a good education. She feels superior to others in the group BUT our trainers always treated equally to her. After the 7 days of the training, she was overwhelmed and full of knowledge on entrepreneurship.

Pabitra convinced that the WAWCAS program is a very good program for women to change their socio-economic situations hence she started to advocate for the program. Whenever she saw needy women struggling to survive she informs and motivates them to become WAWCAS members. She refers to more than 25 women and all of them become successful entrepreneurs.

Pabitra has started a new shop at Showrkhute and Mahepai now she has 4 shops 2 groceries and two drinking water jars shops. She is paying 80,000 rent per month for 4 shops. She also hired three staff and paying 18,000 per month per staff. It is really amazing story

Things are going so well. Before the lockdown, Pabitra managed to take more stuff for her grocery since there are rumors that lockdown will take place soon. And lockdown has been announced. Pabitra could not sleep a whole night it was also a good break for her to relax a little bit but she thinks a lot.

The big problem for many of us is that we are seemingly ‘waiting’ for something to happen. We are Ok to just go along with our current situation which is not good at all. During the lockdown period, Pabitra opens her shop at 6 am and closed at 9 am. Sometimes she has to open at 10 am due to customers she was not aware that the police were keeping eye on her. One day the police came to her shop and say that she has to close her shop immediately and has to go to the police station with him. Without asking any question Pabitra closed her shop and sat in the police van. While going to the police station she received many calls from her customers some are asking to have drinking water some are asking for milk for their children some are asking for food items Pabitra responded to them that she is going to the police station with the police because she opens the shop for more hours than said time.  She also said that she will definitely deliver water and milk if the police allow her to go back.

They reached the police station, before asking any question by a police officer, she received a call from her customer asking drinking water is urgently needed, hence her request police officer that people are dying not having drinking water if she allow going she will deliver drinking water first.

After listening to the conversation between Pabitra and her customer's dialogue, the police allow her to leave the police station. It was only one hour she stays at the police station. Pabitra ran to her shop from the back door she took a water jar and milk and deliver to her customer that day she feels so good and feels that she won a big battle.  During the lockdown, she earns more than normal days.

Due to Corona, everyone is very doubtful and sometimes this comes down to fear. Sometimes this comes down to thinking people have no other option. BUT Pabitra says to everyone that STOP WAITING TAKE ACTION NOW.
