Girls In Tech Liberia is an innovative registered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and advancing women and girls in the field of technology within Liberia. The core idea behind Girls In Tech Liberia is to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry and foster diversity and inclusion in STEM fields
Girls In Tech Liberia (GITL) Initiative stands out for several reasons that make it unique:
Problem Statement:
GITL is addressing the pressing issue of gender inequality in the tech industry in Liberia. Women and girls have long been marginalized, lacking access to formal training and skills, and denied equal opportunities in STEM fields, leaving them underrepresented and underserved. GITL recognizes the societal stereotypes and barriers that hinder women's access to education and skills that can help them provide for themselves and their families.
GITL Importance:
GITL's initiative is of paramount importance because it seeks to rectify these historical injustices. GITL acknowledges that women's empowerment in technology is not just about gender equality; it's also about ensuring that the entire nation can benefit from the talents and potential of its female population. Providing women and girls with tech skills is a step toward economic growth and self-sufficiency.
Ultimate Goal:
GITL's ultimate goal is both ambitious and transformative. By striving to educate and empower at least 10,000 women and girls in Liberia by 2030, we are envisioning a future where thousands of lives are transformed. This goal sets the stage for a more inclusive, innovative, and gender-equal Liberia.
Action Plan:
GITL has a well-structured action plan to achieve this goal. To reach this goal, we plan to expand our presence by establishing tech training centers in all 15 counties of Liberia. This ensures that women and girls from remote areas can access quality tech education. To support this expansion, GITL actively seeks grants, donations (including computers, cash, training materials, and equipment), sponsorships, and partnerships. These resources are the driving force behind our mission to educate and empower thousands.
In essence, Girls In Tech Liberia is unique because it is not just about education; it's about empowerment and transformation. It's about challenging societal norms, breaking barriers, and providing women and girls with the skills and opportunities they deserve. GITL's vision is a catalyst for a more equitable and prosperous Liberia, making it a truly inspiring and impactful initiative.
