My name is Evangeline Mukami from Nairobi in Kenya. At the age of 11 years old, I was forced to go through FGM - Female Genital Mutilation. This unfortunately changed my life for good. I got an infection that developed into a cyst. I did not have anywhere to turn to. I suffered all my life, I have gone through numerous operations until in 2020 when I got a doctor who helped me get proper reconstructive surgery. I got also counselling that helped me to deal with thr trauma.FGM is the worst form of GBV and its unfortunate many communities in the World are still practising FGMI use my experience to support other survivors of FGM and also to warn communities to stop this harmful practise. The scars live on but I am not my pain.
