Taking off my hat to Major Fatima Isaacs

So as women, we still have a long way to walk in different parts of the world. Our hearts yearn for acknowledgement, acknowledgement not necessarily as the extraordinary human beings that we are, but at the best of times, simply as human beings, whose rights matter. Human beings who have the kind of rights that should not be disregarded simply because they are not applicable to all. Human beings who have the right to believe and to proudly portray what they believe, how they believe is best, irrespective of the room  they walk into or the routes their lives take. I know I am a bit late, but today I would like to honor a woman whose power, empoweres an entire community of women. For three years, Major Fatima Isaacs has faced hardship and pushed back against a law that denied Muslim women in the Army in South Africa, to wear hijabs. Her efforts, has led the South African military to change its dress policy to allow Muslim women to wear hijabs with their uniforms. Her efforts has led to the acknowledgement of a community of women who are discriminated against and whose rights to religion have been take for granted for far too many years. I take my hat off to her for who she is, how firm she stood in that and for how she has liberated Muslim women in the South African Military. Thank you Major for being a women who's power empowers us ALL!
