the colour thing

well i am writing this because of the response i received as a result of a write -up i earlier posted(titled dressed to please). What started out as a fun mail took a dimension that i did not envisage. I felt my caribbeans sister's anger as she talked about the issue of slavery, a time in which black women were subjected to a lot of indignity. While i can only symphatize with her, i cannot really understand the depth of what she is trying to express because her ancestors were the victims while mine helped to sell their brothers and sisters into slavery. Since that period of seperation, we have come to realize that though we are of similar pigmentation, we are different in so many other ways. However, i look forward to a time when we(Africans in Africa and those in the diaspora) can get together and learn what makes each group tick . So my sister from that other land. just want to say that i love you.
