As a new Member of World Pulse, i have completed my first chosen Training- 'Social Enterpreneurship'
Since my Nonprofit is new, i can't give all the feedback or impact of what i learnt but will be updating as i make progress in my operations.
The Training gave me deep insights to new knowledge and also sharpens my already existing knowledge and skills on operating a nonprofit organization.
So i will just relate to this story on the areas of where i am presently in my operational activities.
The area of Recruiting staff for any organization is crucial because i have to check my Financial capabilities. Not only that, i have to ensure that the staff working with me understands the Aims/objectives of my organization or else we can't achieve success.
Agwammawomen being new in Malawi, on the area of staff, i have to start with recruitment of Volunteers. This is where the paid staff TESTING aspect comes in because, after the volunteer period, it would be unwise to recruit new paid staff whom i would start to train all over on the Mission/Vision of the organization.
So presently i have few volunteers who are on ground in Malawi and i communicate with them regularly. I made it open to all my Volunteers that my organization cannot afford to pay right now till we start getting grants and Funding. So being honest with my staff will reduce lots of misunderstanding among us and also enables me to know &choose those really ready to work with me in the long run.
There are big organizations who can afford to pay volunteers and i would've loved to pay too but my organization is still new and solely funded by me.
What i promised my volunteers who put in their best while volunteering is to promote them to full paid staff once we start getting grants and Financial support. This promise is right there in my nonprofit Constitution and i will abide by it.
Another area of knowledge i acquired from the Training which also, i have been working on before my training here on WorlPulse is collaborating with Fundraising sites to help us get funds and donations. This hasn't been easy beause most of these fundraisers and donation organizations/Agents don't have flexible Payment gateways for those of us in Africa.
PayPal, Stripe and Cash Apps etc are not widely used in most African countries. The only reliabe, safe and fastest means of making Donations to most African countries is with- Western Union Transfer, Money Gram, World Remit.
So with these payment gate restrictions, we are finding it difficult to get a Fundraising site to create awareness for funds. I have researched on some of them but their payment gateways are not suitable for my Location.
▪I would appreciate genuine suggestions on Fundraising sites that have Western Union, Money Gram or World Remit payment gateways for African countries.
If you are also a member who is a Fundraiser here on WorldPulse, i would like to dialogue with you on your services▪
Finaly, the WorldPulse 'Social Enterpreneurship' training is very good if you are starting a new business, Career or nonprofit organization so you can understand certain operational strategies in running a successful business/career/organization.
As my nonprofit grows, i will be updating this story on other knowledge i gained from the Social Enterpreneurship Training and how i implemented them in my nonprofit operations.✍💌
