Voices of Our Future Correspondents- Gifty Pearl Abenaab and Sunita Basnet speak passionately at the One Young World summit in London-United Kingdom, 8th-11th February 2010.

The summit which has filled an indelible page in the history of Great Britain gathered 700 young men and women representing more than 100 countries around the world to reason with world leaders including Kofi Annan, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bob Geldoff, Oscar Morales and many more. The young men and who won seats for themselves at One Young World based on their activism, personal accomplishments, their contribution to community development and their desire to change the world positively brainstormed on solutions for current global issues and called on Governments, world leaders and civil society to make the world a better place.

The youth aged 25 years and younger debated extensively, agreed and voted massively for resolutions on climate change, the role of Global Business in shaping Society, the media, Interfaith Dialogue, Global health and Political Leadership.

Speaking on the theme- ‘Media-Its Changing Identity and Power ’Francisca Lopez a female youth activist from Italy emphasized on the need for women’s right to the media to be respected. On the same theme Michael Tieh a youth worker and entrepreneur from Malaysia shares his perspectives about how new media including Blogging, Face book, Twitter, Youtube is being used by people in communities to influence social change.
The other issues discussed and resolutions passed were climate change, interfaith dialogue global business, and political leadership.

Some of the young women who participated in the summit felt inspired and empowered as young leaders. This meeting also gave the opportunity for young people to network with other young people across the globe, discuss, share ideas, solutions for social change and development. Listening to the ideas, thoughts and learning unique actions and accomplishment of other young people of their generation today is very inspiration and challenging.

Kofi Annan, the former UN secretary General urged all and sundry to help protect the environment for today and tomoorow's people of the world. He counselled young people to start locally by engaging other young people positvely in their various communities for positive change.

Bob Geldoff one of the One Young World counsellors, charged the youth to go back and take actions, to cooperate and to remain committed to bring social change in their communities.
