Multivitamins may have an impact on aging. In a recent study funded by the National Institutes of Health, multivitamin use was associated with longer telomeres--chromosomal components that protect DNA from damage. Longer telomeres have been linked to a lower risk of chronic disease and overall mortality.



Keep in mind that most studies on multivitamins have been disappointing, revealing no significant health benefits for people who take them. And this new evidence far from proves they actually prolong life. Still, taking a daily multivitamin is an inexpensive way to get the nutrients you need on occasions when your diet may fall short.
