TOTAL CONFUSION

I have been absent for about a month, I was not able to conduct just the interview to think of writing a draft…

Why? Why do I have to be thinking all the day, sleepless in the night and scared at sunset?
Yes scared about what may happen with the morning.

Just when I was rejoicing for the changes coming, the news hit me like a storm.

We now have two presidents. Yes Two presidents: Laurent Gbagbo (former president) and Alassane Ouattara (opposition) : each of them forming his government. One (Laurent Gbagbo)with the support of the army, most of the country institutions and a large part of the population, while the other (Alassane Ouattara) is recognized by the West African countries and the international community…

Oh we dreamed too big… we underestimated the problem… We thought that election could make a change and reunify the country divided by a violent crisis since 19th September 2002.

For more than two weeks now. No school, offices and shops have just started opening, Food is becoming expensive. How are women going to feed their families? In villages, people are dying: poverty has doubled in just two weeks… No proper medical cares, supplies are getting spoiled for no one is willing to risk his/her life to travel or carry food from farms to town from villages to cities. Employers from private sector are not sure to be able to pay at the end of this month.
But amidst this, the citizens are not complaining. Why? Is it fear? Careless? Or are we so used to all this that we can’t talk about it again?

The activist I was supposed to interview is struggling to help all the women she manages. They can’t provide markets with supplies and they are losing investment…

Why is it that all these politicians are not affected by the suffering endured by population?
In the name of what are they sacrificing the happiness of their so-called loved one?
Just for power? Just for money? Just to eat and eat and keep their population in hunger? Is there justice in this world? Is it fair?

This woman, Aurore, gave birth but is separated from her husband, alone in a small town because she can be taken as a target due to the husband’s work. Is it fair?

Eva’s mother and sisters have been placed in different families they do not really know while she is stuck in a nearby country just because the father is a military man. Why? Is it fair?

I am here in Ghana, a nearby country; my mum does not want me to go back now because she is afraid of what might happen on the road.

I can’t do anything to help.

How I wish my small voice could do something right now to bring Unity in Cote d’Ivoire my dear country.

How I wish all this is not happening to You “Tres Chere Patrie”. How I wish…
