Tuvuge Twiyubaka Association'efforts to support vulnerable young girls'education

Dear partners, we are very pleased to share with you the efforts made by our association to make sure some young girls are assisted to have access to basic education. The story below has been told by Rosette, a senior six student whose secondary schooling is paid by the Association Tuvuge Twiyubaka.

My name is Rosette MUKAMWIZA. I was born in 1989. I currently study in senior 6 PCB (Physics-Chemistry-Biology). I grew up in poor family without any economic asset. I have all my parents and three brothers. My parents are quite jobless. They have to work on neighbor’s farm so as to feed the family. I am the only child in my family who managed to pursue my studies in secondary school. Although my brothers were bright students none of them carried on his secondary studies because my parents couldn’t afford their schooling.

The lack of school fees caused a great hardship for my schooling. Most of the time, I was sacked from the class and sent back home to bring school fees. I could stay home a week or two, helplessly and not knowing what to do and while coming back it was so difficult for me to catch up the matter taught when I was sacked. When I was in senior two, I found a well wisher who accepted to sponsor my schooling for two years. Two years later when I joined senior four, the sponsorship from the well wisher was over and my problem of lacking school fees arose again.
Thinking about drop out, the local Cooperative of people living with HIV/AIDS named DUHUZUBUMWE supported by the Association TUVUGE TWIYUBAKA gave me some information about this grassroots organization. Then, I went to their office to explain my situation. They included me in their program that supports vulnerable secondary school students by providing them with school fees and materials. This is my second year since they have started paying my schooling. Now, I am in senior six, I am working very hard at school preparing my secondary completion national examination.
I really thank TUVUGE TWIYUBAKA for the good work they are doing by supporting vulnerable children. I strongly believe that I shall successfully complete my secondary studies and get good results and continue my studies in university to become a doctor. I also pray for their grant makers for the Association TUVUGE TWIYUBAKA and kindly request them to increase the funds they are providing to reach more needy children.
