VOF 4 ( My vision is to see that women who have fallen rise again!!!)

Working in the humanitarian world has exposed me to all kinds of women and their experiences. I have realized that a woman is perhaps the strongest being in the universe. I have met women who have seen their husbands and children killed but still have the will to live and struggle on, I have met women whose dignity has been stripped from them by being raped for belonging to a certain ethnics group, race or religion and I have also met women who have conquered all and are still standing tall, women with good stories to share with fellow women, women who provide hope to their fellow women.

Yes bad things happen to women, things that should and must be condemned. But we have to give hope to these women too; we have to let them know that it is not the end of the world. My vision is to help instill hope in women who have undergone trying and difficult times through providing a forum for experience sharing, information exchange and counseling.

There are women out there who have had gruesome experiences and have overcome them, these are women who need to share their experiences with fellow women and also help them overcome. There is nothing as important as knowing that there is someone out there who went through the same experience, and has risen above it and is rebuilding their life. My vision is to enable these women share their experiences and ideas using various tools of communication like Web 2.0, youtube, mobile phone, community gathering amongst other.

Women, especially those who have faced some form of violence or abuse need this kind of forum. I am a firm believer of communication and information exchange, not only because I am a journalist but also because I have seen what information exchange and sharing of experiences can do to help improve a person’s life.

Yes financial aid is important; however there is need for knowledge and experience sharing. By establishing a forum for women to be able to share experiences and information, I will not only help achieve my vision but also work with my community as well as the global community and this is why I applied to be a WorldPulse correspondent.

Being a Worldpulse correspondent will provide me with skills, network links and motivation needed to establish such a forum. I applied to be a correspondent for WorldPulse because I believe that through it I can achieve my vision and work together with other women out there to make women’s issues known.

With improving information technology, access to information is becoming easier and easier in many parts of the world. Women can be heard and their issues addressed openly.

As a Worldpulse correspondent I also hope to meet and interact with women doing great things, or who have jumped through hurdles and are doing great things to fight for the cause of women all over the world and learn from their experiences while sharing ideas with them.

For me Worldpulse intertwines with my vision of sharing experiences and information with various women, starting with myself, then spreading to my community and finally the whole world and letting them know that despite the falls they can still rise.
