VOF Week 2:(NOW GIRLS HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK)!

I once was seeing a lot of girls facing problems in Kenya. But i could not do anything as there was nobody to be told about things that were happening. But since my mum introduced me to PulseWire i've found a way to speak out and let my voice be heard.

I am very lucky to have parents who understand the meaning of education. They are trying very hard to make me have a carreer.

Since i joined PulseWire i have written stories which have turned my life positively around. My story, http://www.worldpulse.com/newsletters/2008/0215/feature2.html ,was published in the World Pulse Magazine and PowerGirls Magazine.I could not believe my ears when i had that i had recieved 500 Dollars for the story.I had never owned such big money in my life.I bought gifts for the displaced children, and paid my school fee balances and a camping tent for myself to share with other girl scouts.

Now i am really respected by other pupils in our school and also the teachers. They know that i can write about the things which are happening.I am also the head of scouts in our school, and this has given me an opportunity to meet very many important people in the country, and to greet President Mwai Kibaki and the Vice president with my hands.

Now i am sure of making my life and that of other girls better, because i tell our problems on PulseWire. Also i am working hard in the community. When our neighbor burnt her 5 years old son's hands because he poured water on the floor,i told my mother when she came back from Nairobi. My mother went and saw the boy and told the childrens' officer. Then the woman disappeared with the child.

Now me and other girls are not afraid any more because we have the power to speak.on PulseWire.

Love,Leila.
