Honoring community giants!

Nikita Gill says, “Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear darkness, some wear wounds”

Wakati Trust has for the past 9 years worked with and in communities empowering generations to come. We realised that there are people that are making a difference in our societies with little or no resources and yet their efforts go unnoticed.

We have since 2015 celebrated and honored these community giants annually as seen in pictures below:

The main goal of hosting these awards dinner nights is to take time to Reflect, Reconnect and Recognise the efforts and the commitments to transformation being carried out by individuals sharing the little they have to make a difference in someone's life. The aim is to take time to:

1. Reflect on the community transformation work in Zimbabwe from self funded initiatives.

2. Reconnect through  telling and re- telling the story, documenting the impact, building alliances, networks, and collaborations to strengthen and sustain the change.

3. Recognising the Unsung Heroes and Heroines for Community Transformation as a way of giving new energy to keep going on and creating sustainable synergies for change.

The Unsung Heroes and Heroines are drawn from hard to reach communities in Zimbabwe, with consultation with community based organisations and like minded organisations. As we prepare for the 2025 Awards night, we would you to nominate any community giant that has a unique story, we would like to honor them if they are in Zimbabwe. Kindly send a message on our Facebook page:Wakati Trust

We always profile our honorees and try by all means to look for corporates and or organisations that can work with them to change the status quo, to mend hearts and create better generations and safe environments for all.

We are so looking forward to this 8th edition as Wakati Trust turns 10years. Let's do this together. A simple thank you goes a long way. That is what we look forward to on such special nights.
