Was the Film "Eat Pray Love" showing women's rights as a culturally relative issue?

Hello friends,

The film 'Eat Pray Love' showed in India a few weeks ago. One of the question that has been raised is -- did this film show women's rights in a \"culturally relative\" light? The Indian girl whose marriage is shown in the movie, did not actually get married in the book. Then why did the movie have to show her wedding, especially when the girls repeatedly says, both in the book and the movie, that she did not want to get married? Why does this depiction go against the actual spirit of the book? Read here on Gender Bytes
