We won't tolerate Police Brutality: Resignation

Our people have been at the mercy with those that have taken an oath to uphold the law, yet time and time again abuse their power of trust.

On Thursday, August 19, 2010 a group of Latino and African American meet with the Denver Public Safety Manager, Ron Perea to hold accountable the police brutality captured on film. The community demanded the two officers to be fired involved with the police brutality or Mr. Perea's resignation, for not cooperating with the community to work against abuses from the police. During this past weekend the African American community conducted an action in-front of the new Denver jail in response for a Pastor dying in the Denver jai and demanded Ron Perea resignation. Effective Monday, August 23 Mr. Perea handed his letter of resignation. The actions of the community is a clear indication that we're fed up with police abuse and brutality and we'll continue to hold our officials accountable for the safety of our families.

Time and time again people of color have been brutalized by police officers that abuse their power. In 2000 I worked as an Organizer on a Racial Profiling campaign and now in 2010 the community still stands united against Police abuse .

Tues, August 24th we (Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights -COLOR) stood by the side of our Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transexual/Transgender/Queer and Questioning (GLBTQ) community in solidarity during a press conference in response to Ron Perea's resignation. We will CREATE a safer place for our families!
