What financial literacy means to me as a

I am a financial professional for the past 15 years and I worked in different industries mainly construction and engineering. To me, it is important for everyone to be aware of how their finances can be managed however big or small. Every decision will impact your future in some form or fashion and when it comes to finances you always have to think of how you can meet your short and long term needs. It really means you cannot always have everything you want. Being financially literate can help you prioritize and plan and feel a little prepared even when unforseen circumstances arise. It is a big step in becoming a better more responsible adult. I also encourage my children to practice being financially responsible by teaching what I know as well. I recommend a book called Investing for kids by Dylin Redling and Allison Tom for ages 8-12 which I purchased and helped my daughter read to encourage her to become financially literate at a young age.
