When is it the right time?

I made a passing comment today, while dressing my soon to be three son.
"We need to move in to a house where everyone has thier own room."
My daughter who will be seven this September asked me, "Will you also have your own room?"
I shook my head and said no.
She added "So you and Dad will still sleep togther in one room!"
I said yes, and as she walked away , I felt like calling her back to explain to her why this is so.I held back telling myself that the right time and opportunity will present it self for the proverbial "Birds and Bees" talk.

She's growing up so fast...it seems like only yesterday when I held her in my arm, coming home from the hospital, now she is going to be 7! Time flies and things have changed so much. Kid mature earlier and faster that we did. With newspaper stories of children as young as 9 getting pregnant and having babies. I think the sooner I have the talk the better. Then again can anyone have it too soon?

I think, I will answer whatever questions she has when she asks. she knows that Mummy carries a baby in her tummy and is clued in on where the baby comes through. She hasn't asked , how the baby got into the tummy yet.

Being Daddy's girl , she is more open to telling her father things , than me. I fear I may be the last one to know when she does have her period. I think I will have to support my Husband and prepare him eventually how to deal with that when the time comes. I always try to talk to her and tell her things but , I always feel it such a struggle with her, because of the way she looks at me and is quick to end the conversation!

Well, next few years will be a challenge , I know..but am ready for it.. will have to take is one day at a time, take it in stride!
