In 2018, this campaign was brought before the people of Botswana on Facebook and WhatsApp, and physically taken to rural areas. As everything starts with one step, at one place in one nation with one mission; Motopi Village was the luckiest place to be chosen for this programme to start off at. It might have been started off by young people at Motopi Village led by the Youth Leader and Social Issues Activist Ms Babedi Samakabadi but it is now a national campaign officially launched and led by the president of Botswana, His Excellency President Dr Keabetswe Mokgweetsi Masisi. The programme started off before covid, after covid we had to regroup and see way forward. Even though we are not part of the team running this national campaign, but we are happy that an impact is developing.
Batswana at large are now being exposed to various means of economising what we have, our talents and resources. This is the main mandate of CHANGE OF MINDSET CAMPAIGN. This campaign was inspired by the high rate of poverty and unemployment in Africa. Hence we got to awaken our minds as Africans to take charge of our livelihood. No one will ever come to better our lives if we don't do it ourselves and be very intentional about it. We are not poor, we are choosing to be poor in Africa, we are creating poverty. We are undermining ourselves, our capabilities, our intelligence and resources. We have lands, we have livestock, we have water, we have rain, we have vegetation, we have education, we have very unique and brilliant talents... what more do we need to beautify our lives and excel.
Spare me the politics and government scinarios, the laws, policies and rules. Independecy has no obstacle when you are determined. As a writer, no government can stop you from writing and selling your books. As a farmer no law can stop you from farming. As an educated individual no one can stop you from excelling. Only you can limit yourself, we must learn to stand against all odds. No crime, no offence, no government obstacle can stop your progress. Let's innovate, let's stand on our feet, let's be independent.
