"Tech-meetings" isa multidisciplinary space for research and action with a great objective; create a friendly society for the elderly.
The meetings are held in Infante 1415, a Public and Municipal Creation Center open to citizenship promoted by the Municipality of Providencia, designed to promote innovation and creativity from collaborative work and participation.
In the center creative spaces are generated, organized in a participative way together with the community and social and community organizations, linking and integrating the territory in a sustainable way. In terms of infrastructure, it has 3 floors, a subway and a patio. The place has the possibility of open space use with tables and internet. Http://www.providencia.cl/infante1415
"Tech-meetings" is a proposal that contributes to the character of community and social meeting of the Community Creation Center Infante1415.
Every saturday, third age users can approach the Community Center to talk for 20 minutes with a volunteer who will help them to solve doubts about the use of technological devices, smartphones and internet.
The activities are totally free.
Currently 10 volunteers of different ages and professions participate in the project.
As the main proposal, a technological literacy plan for older adults is proposed as an intergenerational process in which different agents of the community can participate. In this way, young people and adultsare invited to become involved in activities planned as volunteers, teachers or assistants.
The aim of the project is to share learning experiences around technology by creating empathy between different ages, reflecting on the importance of the internet in the development of the senior community and exposing directly the needs and current shortcomings of the elderly around this type of tools.
It is of great value for this project the collaboration that will be realized with the Integrated Center of Attention to the Migrant (CIAMI), located in Malaquías Concha, in the commune of Providencia. Through a special invitation we will work with the elderly migrants of the Center, who have lived in the commune for more than 10 years and who need to acquire technological skills to communicate with their relatives abroad and to strengthen ties in the country where they currently resides.
It is hoped to start with personalized talks and then invite different experts in the subject to make presentations, present new products and services and invite senior citizens to talk around the topics presented.
